Moonstone
The moonstone has been coveted since ancient times mainly because of its unique shimmer. There are many myths about the beautiful gemstone: the Hindus considered the moonstone to be the hardened rays of the moon. The ancient Romans believed the stone was formed from drops of moonlight. Traditionally, the legendary gemstone was used to adorn jewelery and as a talisman - it was particularly popular with the hippie movement of the 1960s.
Moonstone: Traditional Use and Significance
The shimmering moonstone has been associated with love since ancient Rome. In Arab countries, the moonstone is also considered the stone of women, is said to strengthen fertility and support breastfeeding. Through its effect on the tides of the earth, the moon takes on an important meaning for the oceans, which has been transferred to the moonstone and made it a coveted protective stone for travelers and for sea travelers in particular. The North American natives used the stone in their dream catchers and even in modern stone lore it is believed that the moonstone ensures a good night's sleep. The fascinating shimmer of the moonstone is also used during meditation, because it can help with focus and is said to be able to strengthen intuition.

Moonstone: color and transparency
The color of the moonstone in our range depends to a large extent on where it was found. Stones from Sri Lanka, which have a high level of transparency, are particularly popular. Stones from other countries may have different colored highlights or shadows. The moonstone has the so-called adularescence, a bluish-white shimmer. This runs over the surface of the stone in different light incidence and is enhanced by the curved cabochon cut. The interesting shimmer is based on the lamellar structure of the crystal. Because the shimmering gemstone is so rare to find, it is often substituted with other stones that go by other names, such as Rainbow Moonstone, Canadian Moonstone, and Blue Moonstone.
Moonstone: Purifying, discharging and charging
The close connection of the moonstone to the celestial body of the same name is also evident in the charging, because this takes place overnight in the moonlight. The discharge and purification after buying and using the moonstone is achieved by storing it together with hematite.
