Heliotrope
The heliotrope has a particularly interesting coloring. This makes it popular as an exclusive ornament for jewelry - especially for signet rings. The gemstone can look back on a long history, as it was used as a protective stone in ancient times by the Egyptians and also in India. Blood jasper or bloodstone are other names for the beautiful gemstone. In German, however, when one speaks of bloodstone, one means hematite.
Heliotrope: Traditional Use and Importance
In ancient Greece, the heliotrope was believed to be the link between man, earth and the divine. The red speckles have always been the stuff of legends and were referred to in the medieval church as the drops of blood of Jesus Christ. The scholar Hildegard von Bingen often used the stone because she attributed great power to it for activating one's own energies. She wrote that the heliotrope can counteract distraction and give strength. This earned him another name: Hildegard's jasper. Since the heliotrope is still used today in stone science to strengthen self-activation, it can be found in our range. The beautiful stone is also said to be able to calm an angry mind and give courage, which makes decisions easier.
- Activation of own energies
- relieve anger
- Give courage for decision-making
Heliotrope: color and transparency
The basic color of the heliotrope is green - this can vary in different nuances and range up to a dark blue-green. In our range, you can sometimes find different shades of this basic color in one stone. Hornblende in the opaque or transparent stone is responsible for this coveted green. The brownish and red speckles in the heliotrope, which are represented in different intensities and quantities, appear particularly sophisticated. They are made of iron oxide. Since they look like blood splatters on the green stone, they earned it the name Bloodstone.
Heliotrope: Purify, Discharge and Recharge
Cleaning the heliotrope after shipping should be done periodically under running water at a warm temperature. Charging is possible via the power of the sun or via rock crystals. Heliotrope necklaces from our product range can also give you new energy at night with hematite stones.
