Tourmaline
Tourmaline as a colorful gemstone and known since ancient times is made up of many mixed crystals. Since the 18th century it has borne the Sinhalese name "turmali", which means "various stone". The tourmaline shines iridescently in red, green, blue or black. Because of its conductivity, it was used to draw tobacco ash out of the pipe. As a stylistic element, on the other hand, it adorns championship trophies from football, for example, or is used as a piece of jewellery. Traditionally, tourmaline can, among other things, balance the flow of energy. The gemstone is found in Madagascar, South Africa, Angola and Sri Lanka, among other places, and was also found in Brazil, Afghanistan and Tanzania.

Tourmaline: color and transparency
The tourmaline is part of a gemstone group and includes different characteristics depending on the color. More than 50 color nuances are said to be found in the tourmaline. In addition to colorlessness, the variety of colors extends from pink to red, brown, green, blue and black. Black tourmaline has the highest color saturation. Mystical legends weave around the "stone of the rainbow". The colored shimmer is called plechroimus. The black tourmaline is found under the name Schorl, the green gemstone under verdelite, the red under rubelite and the blue under indigolite.
Tourmaline: Purifying, discharging and charging
The tourmaline should be cleaned under running water and discharged immediately after purchase. After that, the discharge takes place once a month. In order to recharge the energies of the tourmaline, it is advisable to place the gemstone in an amethyst druse for a few hours.
