The interestingly colored sugilite is particularly rare and therefore very popular. Its rarity is due to the fact that it only develops in the rock under very special conditions. It can only be found at around ten different localities around the world, including in Tajikistan, Italian Tuscany and Japan. The extraordinary gemstone was first described by a Japanese researcher who found the stone on the small island of Sugi - this island name is still part of the stone designation today. Sugilite is also sold as Luvulite, Royal Azel or New Age Stone and is often found in high-quality jewellery.
Sugilite: Traditional Use and Significance
The purple sugilite is often used in the sidereal pendulum, which is used to answer life questions because the gemstone is said to have deep wisdom and a protective function for people. With its help, it should be possible to identify and formulate goals and "stay on the ball" when achieving them. In crystal healing, the gem is used to awaken strength where it is most needed - such as in the case of a serious illness. Sugilite is also traditionally used as a companion in withdrawal from various addictive substances. The powerful stone is considered a loyal friend when a new path is embarked upon.

Sugilite: color and transparency
The basic color of sugilite is an extravagant purple, which can be streaked with darker veins and spots, giving each gemstone a very individual pattern. Specimens with a particularly intense blue-violet or lighter pink-violet can also be found on the market. Some stones with a faint coloring that are offered as sugilite are so-called secondary rocks.
Sugilith: Purify, discharge and charge
The sugilite is a rather soft stone and can be scratched by other hard stones or objects, so it should be stored with care. If the gemstone is worn on the body, it is regularly rinsed under lukewarm, running water. An energetic purification is not necessary, but hematite can be used for the discharge. Rock crystal can also be used.
