The dream catchers in our online shop come from the culture of the Native Americans. In their lore, these sacred objects were used to intensify sleep.
Traditionally, dream catchers are made from twigs that are bent into a circle and covered with a net. The bad dreams are supposed to be caught in this, while the good dreams can slip through. The dream catchers are supplemented by various ritual, sacred or personal objects.

Order dream catchers online: What are dream catchers?
The traditional dream catchers have a round shape, for example made of wood, as they are a symbol of the cycle of day and night, sun and moon, sleeping and waking and life and death. The inner mesh, formerly made of animal tendons or plant material, was modeled on the natural web of a spider. Frame and net are often supplemented by feathers, which are symbolic of light, flying, messages and air, without which life would not be possible. If they move, this should indicate that a good dream and its message have just been captured and led to the dreaming. Glass - and wooden beads or gemstones can also complete a dream catcher in our online shop - symbolically they stand for the protective spider in its web, which intercepts the negative dreams as well as for caught good dreams and should strengthen the protection.

Where do the dream catchers come from?
The idea of capturing bad dreams came from the Anashinabe - a Native American people whose roots can be found around the Great Lakes. Later their settlements lay between Canada and the Northern Plains of the USA. Secret messages and the interpretation of dreams are an important part of their culture. They classified these visions as part of reality, which should be understood, among other things, as revelations and communications. They believed in the oneness of everything and the great power Manitou, which as the world soul and great power is found in everything - from an action to an object.
