Carnelian
In our range, carnelian can mainly be ordered in the nuances of orange and brown. The poet Johann Wolfgang von Gothe already mentioned carnelian, which can also be found in the Saxon Crown Treasury. But long before its time, in antiquity, the stone was in demand, among other things for the manufacture of signet rings.
Carnelian: Traditional Use and Importance
In the legendary Egyptian Book of the Dead, carnelian is listed as the stone of life. It is referred to in popular belief as a companion on the journey after death and was very popular as a burial object. The ancient Romans liked to use carnelian for jewelry and had the rings of the Roman army members set with this gemstone. The theologian and reformer Martin Luther is said to have carried the carnelian with him in a signet ring. Modern stone science relies on the radiant color power of the gemstone and uses it more and more when new strength is to be given and joy found. Courage, energy and commitment are also associated with carnelian - it is considered the stone of community and teamwork. In our online shop, the beautiful stone can be ordered as a carnelian amulet, among other things.

Carnelian: color and transparency
The formation of carnelian can take place in the cavities of various rocks, from which the gemstone can be washed out and then found, among other things, as river deposits. From Brazil to India and Germany to Australia and Poland, the stone can be found in different parts of the world. Carnelian is particularly common in the colors orange and brown, but in rare cases pink specimens are also known. The milky to almost opaque gemstone from our range is mostly monochromatic, but can also have patterns such as bands. The stone has its interesting color due to iron admixtures. In order to obtain a particularly intense, dark colour, the carnelian is heat-treated. This method has been used since ancient times.
Carnelian: Cleansing, discharging and charging
Once a month, the carnelian should be cleaned and discharged after purchase. This is done under running water at a lukewarm temperature. The gem receives new energy from the sun's rays and a group of rock crystals.
