Lapis Lazuli Meaning:
Because of its intense blue color, lapis lazuli is very popular as a piece of jewelery and, in earlier times, also as a color pigment. Its wonderful color also gave it its name, which has its origins in the Arabic term for sky blue. The first evidence of the use of lapis lazuli can be found in the jewelry of the Mehrgarh in South Asia and date from the Neolithic period. The ancient Egyptians also coveted the stone with its intense color and used it, among other things, to decorate the death mask of Pharaoh Tutankhamun.
