Dumortierite meaning:
The blue-violet dumortierite is named after the French paleontologist Eugène Dumortier, who was particularly interested in the professional field of geology and the Rhône Alps. In this region of France the stone was found and first described by MF Gonnard. Dumortierite can often be found near watercourses, so that in African folk belief the legend is told that the blue stone is petrified water. Traditionally, dumortierite is a symbol of confidence and hope, it is used for balance in meditation and is said to be beneficial for harmonization.
